SEX BY THE NUMBERS - Lynn Richards

A larger woman, Emily, is taken to a special nightclub by a friend of hers. At this club, everyone wears numbers indicating their size (you can make a pretty accurate guess what number the men wear). The idea is that you don't have to guess if you're going to want to spend time getting to know a specific person.

Our protagonist feels it's a waste of time - no one wants a large woman.  Except ... Eric, also taken to the club against his better judgment by his brother, finds Emily very attractive and tries to get to know her, even though his brother is trying to introduce him to more slender women. But it's Emily he wants and the pair head off for some hard-banging sex, both of them more than satisfied with the other.

I really liked the beginning of this book. It was set up well and I liked that we got to know Eric and Emily. And the idea was quite fun. (Is this a real thing out in the dating world?)

And then it was like we skipped the middle of the book and went straight to the (happy) ending.

For me the book lost it when Eric, who was quite charming and whom I liked (until this moment) asked, "What did you come here for, baby?" "Baby‽"This came out of nowhere, but from this point on he was a totally different, much more aggressive, person.

I get that some people like the dominant male, but that's not what we had at the start, and frankly, I liked what we had.

The first half - 4-1/2 stars, easy. The second half? 2 stars.

 3 Guilty Pleasure stars
